Canadian (but Berlin-based) guitarist Aidan Baker began the Trio Not Trio project in 2022 as a series of improvisational recording sessions wherein Baker played in person as a duo with another Berlin-based musician then sent those recordings to an international musician to add a third part to complete the trio. Trzecia sees Baker teaming up with Khanate percussionist, Tim Wyskida and Daron Beck of the Fort Worth, Texas duo, Pinkish Black in what is a doom-laden, avant-jazz odyssey. Clocking in at just over the hour mark, Trzecia is the longest offering in the series so far, and it’s possibly the best, zeroing in with a series of carefully crafted compositions that build with resounding tension, brought about by the uncertainty that collaborations sometimes bring.
Comes in a deluxe, hand-silkscreened, gatefold, recycled card sleeve with an insert and bandcamp download code included. Each one is hand-numbered, limited to 185 copies.
